Rookwood Pottery Plaque Conant 1916
Dated 1916, this Rookwood Pottery Scenic Vellum Plaque, decorated by Arthur Conant, is 8.25" by 5" without the frame and including the frame it is 12" by almost 9". A beautiful lakeside scene, trees and mountains, the artwork is outstanding, as is the glaze application. In the original frame with an original black cardboard backing that has the Rookwood Pottery label, it is in overall excellent condition. Fine overall crazing, there are no hairlines, cracks, or repairs. As pictured, on the back of the plaque at the top corners there are minute nicks. On the front of the plaque, in the lower right hand corner, it is signed Conant, and on the back is the Rookwood logo, XVI, V, and red crayon markings. Arthur Conant is primarily known for his artwork on vases and this plaque is one of very few known that was done by him. If you are a Rookwood Pottery collector, this plaque will be an important addition to your collection.
